Recreation day for families

When: 2017
What: A community-driven initiative to bring families together and engage children in fun and educational activities. The event featured outdoor sports and creative activities, such as henna painting, fostering a sense of togetherness and joy.
Result: The day provided families with a relaxing and enjoyable environment, strengthened community bonds, and created cherished memories for children and their parents.

Domestic violence project

When: 2019
What: This project aimed to raise awareness about domestic violence within ethnic minority communities, addressing its causes and consequences. The programme provided educational workshops and support services to combat cultural, linguistic, and economic barriers that perpetuate domestic violence.
Result: Conducted in Hammersmith and Fulham, the project supported refugees, couples, and young people facing integration challenges. Partnering with local agencies, including social services and the Metropolitan Police, referrals were made to offer assistance and resources to victims. The project enhanced understanding, reduced stigma, and offered life-changing support to many.

Food distribution for the elderly

When: 15 March 2019
What: In response to the challenges posed by COVID-19, this initiative focused on delivering food and essential supplies to elderly women living alone.
Result: This act of solidarity provided much-needed relief and comfort to a vulnerable segment of the population during the pandemic, fostering community resilience and care.

Hearing camp in Chad

When: 19–26 June 2021
What: Hope for African Organisation conducted Chad’s first hearing camp, offering free hearing aids to individuals unable to afford treatment abroad. The team included audiologists, an ENT consultant, and project manager.
Result: With 400 hearing aids distributed to those in need, the camp marked an emotional and transformative experience for participants. Despite overwhelming demand, the project laid the groundwork for future efforts to address hearing impairment in Chad. This pioneering initiative was a testament to the belief that hearing is a fundamental human right.

Early pregnancies project

When: 30 October 2021 – September 2022
What: In collaboration with the Community Fund, this project aimed to reduce early pregnancies among refugees and young girls. It focused on education around teenage pregnancy, its social consequences, and available support services.
Result: Through workshops and resources, participants gained knowledge to make informed decisions, helping to lower the incidence of early pregnancies and promoting healthier futures for young women.

Drug misuse awareness

When: 25 March 2023 – 27 February 2024
What: This project involved organising bi-weekly workshops and one-to-one support sessions to educate young people on substance misuse and abuse.
Result: By raising awareness and providing tools for prevention, the programme empowered young people to make healthier choices and contributed to reducing substance-related harm in the local community.

Food Distribution for Sudanese Refugees

When: 2023
What: An unfunded initiative to provide traditional Sudanese meals to asylum seekers from Sudan and other countries.
Result: The project offered a comforting taste of home to those in need, fostering community support and cultural connection among displaced individuals.

Wellbeing Shop

When: 29 August – 26 September 2024
What: Aimed at adults, this programme focused on teaching well-being principles for leading fulfilling lives. The sessions covered topics such as career challenges, adapting to life in a new country, and finding happiness.

Result: With 20 attendees and an inspiring speaker, the project delivered practical insights and tools to improve overall life satisfaction, leaving participants motivated and empowered.

Empowering Second Chances

When: 9 November 2024
What: This programme supports young ex-offenders aged 16–24 from minoritised communities as they rebuild their lives post-rehabilitation. Services include training, mentorship, and employment opportunities.
Result: By providing life skills, job readiness training, and confidence-building workshops, the project reduced the risk of reoffending, empowering participants to make meaningful contributions to their communities.

Support for Older Adults Project

When: 31 April 2024 – 28 August 2025
What: This project provides advocacy and domestic support services for older adults from ethnic minority communities in Hammersmith, Shepherd’s Bush Green, and White City.
Result: By addressing isolation and improving access to services, the initiative enhanced the mental well-being, confidence, and social integration of its beneficiaries, creating a stronger community network.
